An Eloi Pernet cigar cutter, made with a genuine Louis Philippe I silver five francs coin, 1835. This type of work is an Eloi tradition. It began with company founder Charles Louis Eloi Pernet, a third-generation knife maker from Biesles, France. He established Eloi Pernet in 1920 and by 1925 had become well known, making products for Hermès, Dupont, Vuitton and Dunhill. Pernet created designs with intricate detail on a small scale, often using antique silver coins. The cutter has the Eloi diamond trademark stamp on both sides of the coin, together with the French 'crab' hallmark, used from 1838. The Eloi mark is also stamped on the front of the blade, with the wording 'France Depose' on the rear. Condition: blade mint, some surface wear, very good. Dimensions: length open 86 x coin diameter 37 mm.
